My GP told me to give up gluten in 2005, and since then I’ve been on a mission to find the best gluten free venues in Essex. My hope is that this website will help myself and others to discover new places so that living gluten free doesn’t feel so limiting.
Through the years I’ve met a number of people as they begin their gluten free journey, and my first piece of advice is always to speak to your doctor. I can give plenty of recommendations on where to eat, but I would never recommend restricting your diet unless it is a medical necessity.
If you have been told to restrict or remove gluten from your diet, knowing where to start can be pretty daunting. Coeliac UK (www.coeliac.org.uk) have loads of information on getting tested for coeliac disease and living gluten free. They also have regional support groups, but at the time of writing there sadly aren’t any groups in Essex – let me know if you decide to set one up!
